Pizza Chili

This is a fun take on chili that combines the wonderful flavors of pizza in your bowl! Topped with mozzarella cheese, every spoonful is gooey and delicious. So perfect on a cold night, or even on a warm night as it is quick and easy to make. Kids especially love this version. We enjoy dipping thick slices of garlic bread in it!

Pizza Chili

Serves 8

1 lb. ground beef

1 (15 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 (14 oz.) jar pizza sauce

1 (15 oz.) can Italian diced tomatoes

1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

1/2 cup chopped green pepper

1 (3-5 oz.) package sliced pepperoni, or mini pepperoni

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup water

Shredded mozzarella cheese

In a large saucepan, brown ground beef until no longer pink; drain. Stir in beans, pizza sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, green pepper, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, and salt. Stir to combine, then add the water and stir. Heat to a simmer over medium heat and let cook, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until chili reaches desired thickness. Serve in bowls and top with cheese.

Step-by-step tutorial:

Gather your ingredients. You will need a pound of ground beef, a can of red kidney beans, pizza sauce, canned Italian diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, green pepper, pepperoni slices (regular or mini), Italian seasoning, salt, and water.

In a large saucepan, brown the ground beef until no longer pink; drain. Add the kidney beans, pizza sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, green pepper, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, and salt.

Stir together, then add 1 cup water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and allow to cook, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until desired thickness. It really doesn't get much easier!

Serve it in bowls and top with shredded mozzarella cheese. It melts and gets all gooey and delicious!

We also love to serve these steamy bowls of goodness with thick slices of garlic bread.

This is a great chili that has received rave reviews from family and friends. Super kid friendly, but adults love it just as much. It's always a favorite at church chili cook-offs, and has even placed in the competition!
