Good Morning Juice

Good Morning Juice

One of our favorite restaurants in New York City is Sarabeth's. Located just south of Central Park, it's a regular for us when we visit because the food is SO AMAZING. (The tomato soup is to die for! )One morning for breakfast we were offered some "Four Flowers Juice" and thought we'd give it a try. It was superb! The best juice I've tasted. It was also $12 for a glass of it, so we laughed as we took small sips and then said, "well, that was about a dollar right there! "When I got their cookbook last year, I was very happy to be able to make this juice right at home.... and not have to sip so sparingly! This recipe has been tweeked a little, but tastes just like sipping in NYC. Enjoy!

Cucumber Lime Punch

Cucumber Lime Punch

This Cucumber Lime Punch is our family favorite, and bonus for me, it couldn't be easier to make! I got this recipe from a wonderful friend when her family lived here in Virginia. It really brings back fun memories of our time with them because I miss her so much! She is an amazing cook (among MANY other things) and several of my best recipes come from her. Light, refreshing, and a really unique combination of flavors that you are going to love. My kids request this often! It is the perfect holiday drink with it's green accents of cucumbers and limes. It will make your Christmas extra special.

Strawberry Pineapple Swirl Smoothie

Strawberry Pineapple Swirl Smoothie

I've got another refreshing and fun drink for you during the hot summer! This involves whipping up two different parts in a blender, then swirling them in a cup. Strawberries, pineapple, and coconut are the stars in this sipper. Kids will love swirling them together with their straw!

Hawaiian Island Surfer Smoothie

Hawaiian Island Surfer Smoothie

We all wish we could be on a beach in Hawaii, laying back in a chair under a palm tree, watching the surfers, and sipping a cold beverage..... now back to reality. But, I've got a smoothie here that will take you away to that very place in your mind as you sip it! We love this smoothie all summer long. Just add a small umbrella and you'll feel like you're on vacation!

Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

When those cold days hit, having a slow cooker full of this absolutely rich and creamy hot chocolate is the answer! Filling up a mug throughout the cold day and night will warm you to the bone and keep spirits high. I love to make this on days the kids are outside playing in the snow. They come in with all of their friends to get warmed up and are so thrilled to have this waiting for them! It is also perfect to prepare and serve at group gatherings with family and friends. It's rich, smooth, and so comforting.

Palm Tree Frenzy

Palm Tree Frenzy

Years ago we were hosting a youth dance and decided to have a smoothie station for the kids. We came up with three different kinds of smoothies, and this one was the favorite of the night! It has the perfect creamy lime flavor and color. We wanted it to have a catchy name, and so this is what the kids came up with. It's still a summer favorite to this day!

About Me

About me photo

Hello! I'm a mom of four kids and live in Virginia. Two of my kids have celiac disease, so I've been cooking gluten free for 18 years now! It was very overwhelming when my oldest daughter was diagnosed back in 2007, but it has been a fulfilling journey ever since. I know there are a lot of gluten free blogs out there, but I wanted to create one devoted to food specifically for kids.

Through the years, I've had many friends come to me when they or someone close to them have started down the gluten free path. I used to send them an email detailing our favorite brands, what breads, pastas, pizza, etc. are most enjoyed by my kids, as well as some of our best recipes to get them started. I am hoping to help others who may be new to gluten free eating or just want to have some fresh ideas.

Cooking and baking have always been a passion of mine, so when my daughter was diagnosed, my mom told me "you're just the mom to make the best of this". Moms know just what to say!! It has definitely become second nature to me, and I've found ways to help my kids enjoy food just as much as they would if they could have gluten. The trick..... make it so delicious that my whole family enjoys it! Let's get started!
