The Best Soft Caramels
For at least a decade, I've been perfecting my Christmas candy making. With gluten free kids, making dozens of baked goods didn't make sense, so I put my time and efforts into learning the art of making the best candy. My good friends and neighbors all look forward to our assortment of candies at Christmas time. I'm excited to share my learnings with you! We are starting with my all time favorite soft caramels. These little gems are heaven in every bite. Christmas wouldn't be the same without them!
Mother Goose Popcorn
This sweet popcorn is fun to make for different holidays by changing the color. We love to make green popcorn for St. Patrick's Day! It is such a tasty snack or dessert, and is a great surprise in a school lunch too. The sugary coating is unique to any other popcorn I make, and it's addicting! I don't know how this recipe got it's name, but it's been in my family for years.
Patriotic Fruit Pizza
Do you want to celebrate the 4th of July with a dessert that will be a real showstopper? This fruit pizza is so much fun to make and eat. With a gluten free sugar cookie crust, fresh berries, and a delicious cream filling, everyone will want a slice! I love desserts that use fruit in season, and that is berries right now for us. This would definitely be a grand finale to any 4th of July BBQ!
Cherry Bing Bars
Thanks to my dad, I grew up loving the combination of chocolate and cherries. He got me addicted to "Big Cherry" candy early on, so when I found this recipe after a neighbor delivered some at Christmas, I knew I had found a keeper! The bottom layer of these bars is like a cherry fudge. Cherry fudge people!! The top is milk chocolate and peanut butter with chopped peanuts stirred in. The combination of the two is phenomenal. Out of all the candy we make at the holidays, this is MY favorite. Cherry Bing Bars are a Christmas treat you don't want to pass up!
Spiced Peach Salad
Kids love jello! My kids' favorite is plain lime jello with whipped cream on top, but this jello is MY favorite. It is jello stepped up a notch, and will quickly win your heart too. It's a recipe I received years ago from a dear friend and amazing cook when we lived in California. I still make many of her recipes, and they continue to be favorites! We love this jello for holidays because it's a little more special, but you could make it anytime because it's super easy. Anyone else think it's strange that we call this fruity gelatin stuff a salad?
