The Best Hot Dog Sauce

The Best Hot Dog Sauce

If you've ever visited Provo, Utah, you've most likely heard of a hot dog stand called JDawgs that serves the best hot dogs on the planet. They have a few tricks up their sleeve, but one of the best parts is the JDawg sauce that you can get drizzled all over your hot dog. This recipe is an amazing copycat. We always have a squeeze bottle full in our refrigerator. My two celiac kids don't eat hot dogs without it!

Teriyaki Chicken

Teriyaki Chicken

One of our favorite summer dinners is grilled chicken. We used to love to use the Yoshida sauce you can get at Costco, but it is not gluten-free, so about 13 years ago I had to come up with our own sauce. This one is similar, but even better! After you make the sauce, you marinade chicken thighs in it overnight, then grill the chicken with some pineapple slices. We keep some of the sauce to pour over the chicken and rice. It's a healthy and delicious meal that kiddos of all ages will devour. You will love the sauce so much you'll want to drink it!

Grilled Chicken with Strawberry Avocado Salsa

Grilled Chicken with Strawberry Avocado Salsa

With summer around the corner, I am ready to grill. Or, if I'm being honest, I'm ready to have my sweet husband grill! This is one of our favorite chicken recipes. The marinade for the chicken leaves it so juicy and flavorful; and then the salsa..... you will not believe the flavors in there! Made with strawberries, avocado, onion, and cilantro, then sprinkled with freshly squeezed lime juice and the perfect spices. Mouth watering goodness! Fresh, healthy, and delicious. That's a meal I can stand behind!

Reuben Dogs

Reuben Dogs

When I love a hot dog, that is saying something! They've never been my favorite food, but there are a few ways that I actually do LOVE them, and this is one. Think of a delicious Rueben sandwich turned into a hot dog..... a grilled good quality hot dog on a toasted bun with melted Swiss cheese, topped with sauerkraut and tangy Thousand Island dressing. It's more of a sure fire method I'm sharing with you rather than just a recipe, because it's so simple. My kids love them too!

Steak and Blue Cheese Salad

Steak and Blue Cheese Salad

Yes, you can make salad for dinner and hear no complaints when it involves STEAK! And this is no ordinary steak..... it is flank steak marinated in the most yummy ingredients that give it unbelievable flavor, and then grilled to perfection. Combine that with your favorite greens and a bunch of other deliciousness like candied nuts, homemade croutons, and blue cheese crumbles, then top it all with the most amazing homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Oh my! I could eat this every single day and never get tired of it. It's filling, but in a way that makes you feel healthy and happy!

Teriyaki Steaks with Cucumber Sauce

Teriyaki Steaks with Cucumber Sauce

Grilling is our favorite way to cook in the summer. These simple steaks come together so fast and have the most incredible cucumber sauce to serve with them. The cool smooth sauce with the warm steak is just heaven! We found this recipe 20 years ago and still enjoy it to this day!

About Me

About me photo

Hello! I'm a mom of four kids and live in Virginia. Two of my kids have celiac disease, so I've been cooking gluten free for 18 years now! It was very overwhelming when my oldest daughter was diagnosed back in 2007, but it has been a fulfilling journey ever since. I know there are a lot of gluten free blogs out there, but I wanted to create one devoted to food specifically for kids.

Through the years, I've had many friends come to me when they or someone close to them have started down the gluten free path. I used to send them an email detailing our favorite brands, what breads, pastas, pizza, etc. are most enjoyed by my kids, as well as some of our best recipes to get them started. I am hoping to help others who may be new to gluten free eating or just want to have some fresh ideas.

Cooking and baking have always been a passion of mine, so when my daughter was diagnosed, my mom told me "you're just the mom to make the best of this". Moms know just what to say!! It has definitely become second nature to me, and I've found ways to help my kids enjoy food just as much as they would if they could have gluten. The trick..... make it so delicious that my whole family enjoys it! Let's get started!
