The Best Soft Caramels

The Best Soft Caramels

For at least a decade, I've been perfecting my Christmas candy making. With gluten free kids, making dozens of baked goods didn't make sense, so I put my time and efforts into learning the art of making the best candy. My good friends and neighbors all look forward to our assortment of candies at Christmas time. I'm excited to share my learnings with you! We are starting with my all time favorite soft caramels. These little gems are heaven in every bite. Christmas wouldn't be the same without them!

Cherry Bing Bars

Cherry Bing Bars

Thanks to my dad, I grew up loving the combination of chocolate and cherries. He got me addicted to "Big Cherry" candy early on, so when I found this recipe after a neighbor delivered some at Christmas, I knew I had found a keeper! The bottom layer of these bars is like a cherry fudge. Cherry fudge people! ! The top is milk chocolate and peanut butter with chopped peanuts stirred in. The combination of the two is phenomenal. Out of all the candy we make at the holidays, this is MY favorite. Cherry Bing Bars are a Christmas treat you don't want to pass up!

Snickerdoodle Cracker Toffee

Snickerdoodle Cracker Toffee

Have you ever tried toffee made from crackers? It's so easy to make, and is such a fun flavor combo with the sweet and salty. These are extra special because they have the addition of white chocolate and are topped with cinnamon and sugar, just like a snickerdoodle cookie. The perfect snack for a fun night with friends, or great gift idea for neighbors at Christmas!

The Best English Toffee

The Best English Toffee

Candy making is so much science! It is incredible how cooking similar ingredients, such as butter and sugar, can result in very different outcomes depending on the temperature you cook to. This toffee is cooked to what is called a "soft crack" stage, and I am in love with this consistency! It is a recipe from a dear friend in Kansas who was my best mom friend when I was having my babies in California. She is an amazing cook! She is also the sweetest friend who sent me a whole tin of this toffee after I moved away from her and missed everything she used to make for our family. Luckily I learned how to make her recipe, and you will definitely want to give this a try. It is by far THE BEST English toffee I've ever had in my life!

Classic Fudge

Classic Fudge

Is there really anything better than a piece of delicious fudge? It only takes a square of this creamy, chocolatey goodness to satisfy the biggest sweet tooth or a current chocolate fix. Fudge is a must for sharing with friends and family during the holidays, andone batch goes a long way. If you've never made homemade fudge before, this is your year to try..... I've got all the steps laid out for you so it's easy! If you are a previous fudge producer, you still need to try this recipe and see what you think. We've tested lots of recipes, and this one is by far our favorite!

Hot Cocoa Fudge

Hot Cocoa Fudge

Do you love hot cocoa? Do you love fudge? Well, then why not put the two together! It's a perfect combination with a rich fudgy base filled with marshmallow bits, and then topped with lots more marshmallow bits! It's chocolate heaven and will having you coming back for more. Such a fun share on a goodie plate for your friends and neighbors this Christmas!

About Me

About me photo

Hello! I'm a mom of four kids and live in Virginia. Two of my kids have celiac disease, so I've been cooking gluten free for 18 years now! It was very overwhelming when my oldest daughter was diagnosed back in 2007, but it has been a fulfilling journey ever since. I know there are a lot of gluten free blogs out there, but I wanted to create one devoted to food specifically for kids.

Through the years, I've had many friends come to me when they or someone close to them have started down the gluten free path. I used to send them an email detailing our favorite brands, what breads, pastas, pizza, etc. are most enjoyed by my kids, as well as some of our best recipes to get them started. I am hoping to help others who may be new to gluten free eating or just want to have some fresh ideas.

Cooking and baking have always been a passion of mine, so when my daughter was diagnosed, my mom told me "you're just the mom to make the best of this". Moms know just what to say!! It has definitely become second nature to me, and I've found ways to help my kids enjoy food just as much as they would if they could have gluten. The trick..... make it so delicious that my whole family enjoys it! Let's get started!
